A plea from Hospice for lap-size quilts, a back-log of unfinished tops, and the end of the summer vacation season all combined to motivate a series of SEWcials scheduled for September. Join the Community Service tribe for a series of "Back to [Finishing] School" work parties.
Following the guild meetings in September, members of the CS team will host four sessions from 5 – 9 pm at White Bluffs Quilt Museum.
We’ll use the guild’s quilt tops, fabric, and batting; sewing machines and ironing boards are on site, if you don’t want to carry your own.
We have planned the activities to take you through the steps that follow piecing the top (the part of the process many of us prefer). The format will be informal and flexible: guest coaches will be available to demonstrate and advise.
Tue Sep 19: squaring tops, piecing backs
Wed Sep 20: basting the quilt sandwich (pin or spray)
Thu Sep 21: quilting on your domestic (walking foot and free motion)
Fri Sep 22: binding (mitered corners, joins, back to front stitching)
Space is limited, and we’ll be buying groceries for school-style lunches, snacks, and drinks, so reserve your spot!
To sign up, use the contact form; put “September Community Service Sewcials” in the subject line: our Guild postmistress, Michele Boston, will get it where it needs to go.
Join the CS Tribe--and polish your post-piecing skill sets--for a Back-to-School quilt finishing event.
